The Anticipation

August 30, 2012

First off, welcome to my blog! I will be using this to keep family and friends updated on/interested in my life in Rwanda (and potentially beyond) over the course of the next 9 months. I hope to post a once or twice a month. But after the debacle of my Cameroon blog, I can really give no guarantees on that. Feel free to sign up for an email subscription to receive notifications as I update this blog or just pop in as you please.

Currently, I am wallowing in pre-departure excitement/anxiety over the many unknowns of my new transient home. I will be teaching English at INATEK university, an institution focused on education and agriculture studies. The university is in the city/hill of Kibungo in the southeast of the country (about a 2 hour drive from the capital, Kigali, or so I’m told). So far, I understand I will have a tidy apartment with some lecturers or one of the other Fulbrighters. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am also required to become involved with a unique research/extracurricular activity during my scholarship year. The above blurb is all great information, but still leaves me with plenty of questions to consult in my daydreams.

Check out the South East region. Maybe I’ll have to take a quick trip to Burundi or Tanzania while I’m out there!
